the limblimb project is an interdisciplinary, performance project, conceived and directed by Krista DeNio, in collaboration with creative teams in New York City; Western MA; Albuquerque, NM; Denver, CO and San Francisco, CA. limblimb is an inter-personal dialogue attempting global perspective, through the vehicle and lens of theater, on how we deal with ourselves, our instincts and learned behavior. Based on interview and sourced material culled in development workshops with a mixed population of performers, civilians, veterans and active duty military, the resulting performance piece will be an intimate performance spectacle, continuously re-located to-and involving input from- communities throughout the United States. The project, currently in workshop phase, is an ongoing investigation of how different individuals & communities respond to a series of seminal questions surrounding the ideas of instinct, territory, boundary, violence, survival, war, and intimacy. Through writings, interviews, and physical theater/ vocabulary sourced in development workshops the project will result in a hybrid performance piece, taking place in the round and viewed as a moving installation/ play. Using a theatrical narrative, the piece will be altered slightly in format (while maintaining the foundational structure/narrative) and re-staged within each community, dependent on input from local civilians and military in each location. Project intention is to create a model structure, which can then be continuously re-located and produced within (and involving) communities throughout the United States, as ongoing means of investigation and re-creation of American consciousness re: our relationship to war/ violence and it's relation with our daily lives/actions. limblimb Artist in Residence collaborators: Dan Bear Davis, Krista DeNio, Katarina Eriksson, Eddie Grant, Justis Hatch, Cammie Kelly, Seth Lepore, Nyx, paige starling sorvillo, Kristen Stake Krista DeNio is a choreographer/performer/writer/ director/educator and arts administrator, recently re-located from Brooklyn, New York, to inhabit a Co-Executive Director position at Earthdance.
