Body and Earth

with Andrea Olson and Caryn McHose

Sept 16 (Thurs evening) – Sept 19 (Sun afternoon)

A journey in Body and Earth principles and practices: Beginning with arriving on the magical land of Earthdance and orienting through perceptual practices, we introduce a sequence of explorations to deepen inhabitation of self and place, and refresh creative energies. Morning sessions include experiential anatomy and evolutionary movement with Caryn, afternoons focus on the discipline of authentic movement and excursions on the land with Andrea. Throughout—rest and nourishing meals allow opening flow and enhance creative embodiment.

Andrea Olsen is Professor of Dance and of Environmental Studies at Middlebury College in VT. She authored Body and Earth: An Experiential Guide , and also Bodystories: A Guide to Experiential Anatomy in collaboration with Caryn McHose. Caryn, who has taught creative movement for over 40 years, currently investigates structural integration using perception, imagination, and playful improvisation. With Kevin Frank, she co-founded Resources in Movement in Holderness, NH, and co-authored How Life Moves: Explorations in Meaning and Body Awareness.
