Many of you have shared love and concern for how Earthdance is weathering organizational survival through monumental Covid challenges. You have asked for transparency through our uncertainties (bruises and buoyancy ahoy). We want to share with you some of this story by way of asking for your cunning, listening ears, and possible participation. The emergence of the Delta variant of Covid has forced an unwanted and heartbreaking detour in our fall and winter plans. Several organizations who had booked large retreats have cancelled, postponed, or reduced their capacity, not feeling safe given the uncertainties. We have found that small group residencies have been a meaningful and safe way to gather at Earthdance, and these kinds of residencies have been crucial in supporting us financially, as well as keeping our practices, communities, and spaces alive. Do you have a small group who wants to rent the space for a day or a weekend of practice or gathering? Are you involved in a like-minded organization who is looking to host a contained retreat in which you can support your own safety with mutually agreed upon Covid practices? We have had a number of small gatherings this summer who have rented Earthance and felt restored by dancing, playing music, and gathering on site. If you have the opportunity to pull together a discrete group of people and rent our space for a personal retreat, this supports our sustainability greatly. We ARE planning to host some Earthdance organized events this Fall and Winter and hope and believe we will be able to safely honor them. However, booking your own gathering or retreat where you organize and invite your own small group is a way to sustain us organizationally and hopefully your own dance and community practice.
