As we continue into March, we are happy to share that we will be having our annual Spring Equinox Jam on March 17 - 20, 2022. For more information, please see below.

Earthdance is proud and excited to announce a collaboration with Shay Au Lait and Christos Galanis and their growing work called Sensing Race. Join us virtually on March 26 - 27, 2022. For more information, please see below.

We are also unfolding the possibility of other upcoming events. Please keep an eye out on our website and social media for potential CoCo Jams in April or May. And looking even further, we are currently planning a Summer Family Jam in late June/early July 2022.

Finally, we will be accepting a few applications for volunteers to live/work on site. If you are interested, please see below.

Work and Dance Weekend

February 17 - 20, 2022 

Come and join us for a long weekend of community building and dancing. During these days we will split our time between being in service to Earthdance and in enjoyment of our shared dances.
The idea is simple: we work in the morning, we lab and do workshops in the afternoons and jam in the evenings.

As the weather will be cold, much of our work will be focused inside with a few opportunities to stay warm outside through a good physical workout job.

Earthdance will provide food for the community creation of meals so that we have plenty of energy to give.

Spring Equinox Jam

March 17, 2022 to March 20, 2022 

Earthdance’s annual Spring Equinox Jam is centered around research and renewal. As winter melts and gives way to spring, a cozy, curious, quiet atmosphere opens up for engaging in Contact Improvisation (CI) dancing and investigation.

The Spring Jam is typically 25 – 40 people, and is particularly geared toward anyone looking to explore Contact Improv for the first time or explore new layers of movement exploration in CI. Through focused dancing, light conversation, and creative exchange, the Spring Equinox Jam offers many opportunities for awakening and beginning.

Sensing Race: Making Sense of Race Through Somatic Play - Workshop

March 26th & March 27th, 2022

1:00 - 2:30pm EST (on Zoom)

Earthdance is proud and excited to announce a collaboration with Shay Au Lait and Christos Galanis and their growing work called Sensing Race.
Through this collaboration Earthdance wants to affirm its commitment to working with themes such as race and racialism, and at the same time to broaden the scope of how we approach such themes. By bridging the gap between the social/political and the somatic in a creative and hands-on fashion, we believe that Sensing Race will allow people to engage with this topic in new and inspiring ways.

Summer Family Jam 2022

June 29, 2022 - 4:00pm to July 4, 2022 - 3:00pm

Earthdance’s annual Summer Jam is about abundance and play. One of the biggest events of the year, the Summer Jam takes place across all corners of the land. Sunning, sauna-ing, quarry swimming, frisbee playing, tenting, resting on the earth, children squealing, packed and sweaty studio dancing, performances, bonfires, and all kinds of indoor and outdoor play...the Summer Jam invites a total, multigenerational celebration of life, family, and community.

The Summer Jam is particularly geared toward anyone looking to experience a festival atmosphere, as well as to families looking for a variety of offerings to suit all ages. The Summer Jam typically includes a Youth Program available from 10am–1pm time each day for youth ages 1–16.

Join Christine DeLucia, Rhonda Anderson, and Larry Spotted Crow Mann for an on online conversation on Native American and British/Anglo-American “ownership” of hilltown land.
Friday February 18, 2022, 7:00-8:30 pm, Zoom.

How did the land recruit you? How has it recruited others and who were they? What ties people to a place? What is land ownership? How did those who own land today, come to do so? Who was here before and when British and American settlers arrived and what brought them here? Did European settlement mean a complete break with the past for Native Americans? What are the relationships and connections that they have had and have now with the places we now call Plainfield and Cummington?

Free and open to all over 12. Registration is necessary to get the event link. This event is hosted by Plainfield Reads. Co-Hosted by the Plainfield Historical Society, Earthdance, and the Plainfield Congregational Church, and funded in part by Mass Humanities and the Plainfield Cultural Council, both funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Earthdance is seeking self-driven volunteers who are able to take direction and are enthusiastic about seeing projects to completion.
